Etch a Sketch Clock.....

This unique Etch-A-Sketch clock, based on Scott Ferguson's CNC EAS and the Arduino platform, uses stepper motors to power the device, which is then connected to a laptop for drawing purposes. Best of all, the device erases itself each and every minute. Though we'd like to see the ability to draw portraits, its time displaying function is more than enough to get us through the work day.

Staff believe that the octopus called Otto had been annoyed by the bright light shining into his aquarium and had discovered he could extinguish it by climbing onto the rim of his tank and squirting a jet of water in its direction.

The short-circuit had baffled electricians as well as staff at the Sea Star Aquarium in Coburg, Germany, who decided to take shifts sleeping on the floor to find out what caused the mysterious blackouts.

A spokesman said: "It was a serious matter because it shorted the electricity supply to the whole aquarium that threatened the lives of the other animals when water pumps ceased to work.

"It was on the third night that we found out that the octopus Otto was responsible for the chaos.

"We knew that he was bored as the aquarium is closed for winter, and at two feet, seven inches Otto had discovered he was big enough to swing onto the edge of his tank and shoot out the 2000 Watt spot light above him with a carefully directed jet of water."

Director Elfriede Kummer who witnessed the act said: "We've put the light a bit higher now so he shouldn't be able to reach it. But Otto is constantly craving for attention and always comes up with new stunts so we have realised we will have to keep more careful eye on him - and also perhaps give him a few more toys to play with.

"Once we saw him juggling the hermit crabs in his tank, another time he threw stones against the glass damaging it. And from time to time he completely re-arranges his tank to make it suit his own taste better - much to the distress of his fellow tank inhabitants."

well its november once again. my otherhalf returns from his asbestos course in Manchester tomorrow which im very happy about!
i was invited to a relativeś birthday party but i dont feel like going to it so i decided not to go in the end.
i got a new laptop recently, an Eee Pc,which runs Linux. i love it to pieces! i got it as an early christmas present from my other half in pink... like in the pic below....

in other news, im 5months pregnant at the moment with my first child (a daughter). as much as i am ecxited about the new arrival i am also worried how ready i will be to take of her, and how well i can take the job of being a mother. well, only time will tell! i have started eating meat again for the pregnancy so i can give the baby everything she needs. shes been kicking a lot recently and shes a very healthy active baby already so i must be doing something right. her due date is March 10th, whih is only 8 days after my own birthday. perhaps she might be born on my birthday,March 2nd! that will be a turn up for the books!

This is a special day for many people especially in places like Mexico or those of Mexican heritage, and something I don't understand. Itś Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead in English, connected with the Catholic holy days of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day .
They believe that their dead loved one comes to visit them on Novemeber 2nd.  So, they set out alters, and fill it with the favorite things of thier loved ones who have died.  This can be their favorite food, beer, and flowers.  It's probably a little weird seeing the alters and stuff, because this is something I absolutely do not believe in. I am not a Catholic firstly. Like Halloween the day before, this originates in Paganism. Indigenous observances date back thousands of years to an Aztec festival dedicated to a goddess called Mictecacihuatl (known in English as "The Lady of the Dead"). Over time this festival, like many others stemmed in Paganism have been incorporated into the Catholic Church.
